Cynthia Douglas was one of three captains managing the Spiderman balloon during the Macy’s 84th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. It was Cynthia’s 7th year participating in the parade. There were 90 handlers for the Spiderman balloon. “It was a great day. I enjoy doing this as a volunteer every year. Training and practice is required each year to participate,” Cynthia said.

As the countdown to our official Centennial year in 2011 begins, the Pioneer Association has added a dedicated Centennial section to its website to share news and opportunities for ways Pioneers can participate in this once-in-a-lifetime anniversary. One of those opportunities for participation is sharing a favorite memory of Pioneering or a special wish for our next century with us so we can post it in this dedicated section. Every Pioneer has a story of how he or she became a member, the difference Pioneers make in their communities, a proud Pioneer moment or a hope for the future of Pioneering. E-mail your memories and wishes to centennial@pioneersvolunteer.org. Bookmark the Centennial section of the website.
